Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Janma ("Janma", "we", "us", "our"), a Vedic astrology mobile and web application available on Google Play, the Apple App Store, and at janma.app. By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using Janma, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Janma.

1. Acceptance and changes

By using Janma you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms. We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the Last updated date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the app. Your continued use of Janma after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not accept the changes, stop using Janma.

2. Eligibility and accounts

• You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 where required by your local law) to use Janma.
• If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may use Janma only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian.
• You sign in using Google Sign-In. You are responsible for keeping your account and device secure and for all activity that occurs under your account.
• You agree to provide accurate information and not to impersonate any person or misrepresent your identity.

3. Nature of the service — entertainment only

Janma computes astrological birth charts from the birth details you enter and uses them to generate readings, compatibility (Porondam) assessments, and related content. All of this is provided for entertainment, cultural interest, and personal reflection only.

• Astrology has no proven predictive or scientific validity. Outputs are interpretive, not statements of fact.
• We do not warrant that any chart, score, reading, timing (dasha, Rahu Kaala), or interpretation is accurate, complete, reliable, or suitable for any purpose.
• Nothing in Janma is a promise or guarantee about your past, present, or future, or about any relationship, event, or outcome.

4. Not professional advice

Janma does not provide medical, psychological, legal, financial, investment, tax, career, relationship, marital, or any other kind of professional advice, and must never be used as a substitute for it.

• Do not make, delay, or avoid any important decision — including decisions about health, mental health, marriage, relationships, family, money, employment, travel, or legal matters — based on Janma.
• Always seek the advice of a qualified professional for any such matter.
• If you are in crisis or may be a danger to yourself or others, contact your local emergency services or a qualified professional immediately. Janma is not a crisis or support service.

5. AI-generated content

Life readings and answers are produced by an AI language model (Google Gemini). AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, offensive, or misleading, and may not reflect any real astrological tradition. It is generated automatically and is not reviewed by a person before you see it. Treat all AI content as fallible and for reflection only. You use it at your own risk.

6. Your content and other people's data

• You retain ownership of the birth details and questions you enter ("User Content"). You grant us a limited licence to process User Content solely to operate the service (for example, to compute a chart or generate a reading), as described in our Privacy Policy.
• Compatibility and third-party details: if you enter another person's birth details (for example, to check compatibility), you confirm that you have that person's consent, or are otherwise legally entitled to do so, and you accept sole responsibility for that use. Do not enter another person's data without their permission.
• You must not enter content that is unlawful, infringing, or that you do not have the right to provide.

7. Credits, purchases, and payments

• Certain features (such as AI readings) consume credits. Credits are a limited, personal, revocable licence to use digital features within Janma. They are not money, have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for cash, and are non-transferable.
• Purchases are processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store and are subject to their terms. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
• Credits are generally consumed when a reading is generated. Except where required by the applicable app store's policies or by law, purchases and consumed credits are non-refundable.
• Refund requests are handled through the store you purchased from (Google Play or Apple App Store), in accordance with their policies.
• We may change features, credit costs, and pricing at any time. Changes do not apply retroactively to credits already purchased.
• We may grant, adjust, expire, or revoke promotional or free credits at our discretion.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use Janma for any unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, or abusive purpose;
• reverse engineer, decompile, scrape, or attempt to extract source code, models, prompts, or underlying data, except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by law;
• resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit readings or other content without our written permission;
• interfere with, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service, our systems, or other users' accounts;
• use automated means to access the service or to create accounts; or
• use the service to harass, defame, or harm any person.

9. Intellectual property

Janma, including its software, design, text, graphics, mandala artwork, and branding, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Janma for your own non-commercial use. Readings generated for you may be kept and shared for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

10. Third-party services

Janma relies on third-party services including Google Firebase Authentication, Google Gemini, RevenueCat, and the Google Play and Apple App Store platforms. Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms, and we are not responsible for them. Links or references to third-party sites are provided for convenience and do not imply endorsement.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

Janma is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We expressly disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that any content, chart, score, or reading will be accurate or reliable.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Janma and its owners, officers, employees, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, opportunity, or for any decision made or action taken in reliance on the service.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to Janma or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you paid to us (via the app stores) in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 25.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Janma and its owners from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or of the rights of any third party (including entering another person's data without consent).

14. Suspension and termination

You may stop using Janma at any time and may delete your account from within the app. We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or to protect the service or other users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including sections 3–13 and 15–16) will survive.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or to Janma are governed by the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Colombo, Sri Lanka, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the law of your country of residence.

16. General

• Entire agreement: these Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us regarding Janma.
• Severability: if any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
• No waiver: our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
• Assignment: you may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
